music and visuals focus on 8 bit aesthetics

This workshop teaches you how to perform live music and visuals with 8-bit technologies. The purpose of the workshop is to find new ways of expression in these unique tools that are often misunderstood as limiting and difficult. New ideas don’t require new technologies. In fact, old technologies often spawn new procedures, ideas, styles and goals.

'POLYBIUS 2.0' Live Cinema
live cinema based on modern myth

The purpose of Polybius is to explode the links between fiction and reality by encouraging a loss of senses. It builds on the urban myth about an arcade game from the 1980s (Polybius) that created a sensory and cognitive deprivation in its users. By combining line vector aesthetics with video manipulation and 8-bit technology we want to induce feelings of apophenia, amnesia and panic. The Polybius experience – Sinneslöschen (German for “sense deleting”).

cinematic text mode

‘?? ???’ is an audiovisual performance in the vein of cinematic new age terror. It operates in text mode, only using characters of the Commodore 64 and Amiga. This applies both to the graphics and the music. As the title indicates, some of these characters are not available in modern systems.
